Game Changer Series Vol.7: Silicone Free For A Happy Skin

Happy Skin Second Skin Creme Foundation

an event, idea, or procedure that effects a significant shift in the current manner of doing or thinking about something.

There was a time when I thought that no foundation would ever suit my skin. Insert sad face here.

Of course this was before I got into Dermatology.

The problem was when I use a certain foundation, I’d either get bumps on my face immediately or after a couple days and I always attributed that to stress, the climate or a certain time of the month. It wasn’t until a friend of mine mentioned how she was sensitive to the silicones in some foundations that got me thinking maybe it’s the same with me.

And so began a not-quite long journey on discovering silicone-free foundations. It was touch and go for a while, trying out different brands until Happy Skin Cosmetics launched their line last 2013. Continue reading

MAC Prolongwear Bronzer Sun Dipped

an event, idea, or procedure that effects a significant shift in the current manner of doing or thinking about something.

Have I ever told you how I got into bronzers? I can’t recall if I did but just last weekend, I made a shocking discovery. I’ve hit pan on one of my favorite bronzers. In fact, it was the very first one that got me addicted into bronzing.

And thus, it deserves some kind of recognition and a post as part of my “game-changer” series.

Shall I count the ways I love it? Continue reading

Game Changer Series Vol.4: When Nikki Met Milani

Milani Berry Amore

This is usually how it goes when I find myself strolling in between booths of any bazaar I head to. Aside from stopping by the usual local clothes, shoes, swimwear brands I am familiar with, I make it a point to spare some cash and visit the local beauty sellers to get my fix on brands not available in department stores.

Like Milani, Rimmel, Nyx — back when it was not yet available in the Philippines, NYC, etc. My point is, it was in one of these bazaars that I was introduced to my first baked blush from Milani and let me tell you, it was love up until now.

Game Changer Series Vol.3: Real Techniques Buffing Brush

Real Techniques Buffing Brush

I used to apply my liquid foundations with my fingers. You know the drill, warm the foundation up first before blending it on your face. For my powder foundations, yes, I used to pat them with the sponges that come with the compacts.

Now, I have nothing against using fingers for any cream or liquid foundation formulation. In a way, it’s quick and easy plus it has no additional hassle about regularly washing it once every week, although you do have to wash your hands first before applying any kind of facial product. And it never crossed my mind that a brush can be better.

Then one day, I came across a review of the Real Techniques brushes and I got curious. I mean, they are invented by the Chapman sisters, both professional makeup artists! Ordering and unboxing those brushes changed my life but this Game Changer post is all about the Buffing Brush.  Continue reading
