Just a few more days to go before 2016 comes to a close, can you believe it? Anyway, I usually do the year-end product round up every January of the following year but this time though, I thought I’d do it earlier.
For me, 2016 was a year of highlighters, liquid lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes. Those 3 basically littered my vanity table from drugstore brands to high end products. Instagram has been a huge enabler (and help?) for my addiction, introducing me to different brands and people who further enable me, thus a never-ending cycle. Continue reading
Last month was mostly about me and my skin. Nothing much about makeup that particularly stood out. I do have some items for reviews in the upcoming days.
Yves Roches Jardins de Monde Brazilian Coffee Beans Shower Cream. This smells deliciously like a chocolate-coffee drink. I love using it every time I hop in the shower. I seriously want to go back to Yves Rocher for more. You can read my review here.
Yves Rocher Hydra Specific White Contour Regard Eye Care. This eye cream was included with the shower cream I bought last month. I don’t know if they have discontinued this product or not but it’s not in any of the websites of Yves Rocher in any country. And, everything from the Hydra Specific White range was being sold at 50% off. To review or not to review, that’s the question.
Etude House Collagen Moistfull Essence. My mom actually gave this to me after she found it too sticky for daytime use. I told her to apply it before bedtime instead but she just gave up on it. I’m the one who’s using it, at night mostly but sometimes during the day too when I’m at home and I don’t have to go out.
Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfect Concealer. Last month was ‘breakout season’. Maybe because I was more stressed than usual but I’ve got comedones, angry pimples and post-acne marks dotting my chin, forehead and cheeks. My family and friends have all noticed! I’ve been bringing this concealer in my kit to cover them up. My review can be found here.
Nivea Creme. Amping up my skincare just a bit, I added this cream to my night routine after reading this article saying how Nivea can rival and best even the most expensive moisturizer.
Etude House Play 101 Pencils.Out of all the shades I bought from Etude House, #8 and #50 have been a part of my makeup routine as an eyeshadow base and eyeliner, respectively. See the other shades I have here.
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour. I was finally able to visit Catrice Cosmetics in SM MOA. I got a couple of items including this eyeshadow called My First Copperware Party. It’s become my go-to eyeshadow for several days now. Already featured it in my first FOTD I posted here.
March certainly flew by so fast. I was just rounding up products for the month of February and now I’m doing one for March.
Well, then, here we go.
La Roche-Posay Effaclar H. I’m surprised this lasted me almost a year and well enough through out the colder months of December and January. Gave me the extra hydration I needed during those months.
Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore-Perfecting Toner (travel size). I love this! This has now become a staple in my skincare routine. My review can be found here.
bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara mini. I’m going to have bid farewell to this little guy here. It has dried up already.
Hourglass Foundation Formula Sample (Light Series). I was so excited to try out Hourglass’ Foundations for free. Instead of buying the full-sized bottles, I get to test the goodness of their products one at a time without paying for the exorbitant price. The only downside is the shade I was given. The lightest shade included is Ivory which is a tad darker for me but no worries, my experience was all good. Each sample packet lasted me for about a week.
All the toners I had gone thru always leaves me with a feeling of disappointment — broken promises of oil control and pore minimizing actions. Out of all my friends who, like me, have an oily and sensitive skin, there’s only one I know who swears by Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Toner Pore Perfecting Toner and has several bottles stocked up in her medicine cabinet. As I was perusing the aisles of Healthy Options in Rockwell, I spotted this high up in the shelves. I thought twice about picking it up but curiosity won so I bought the travel size bottle (2fl. oz./59ml) because I wanted to test it out.
It’s been a month since I started using Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Toner (it’s tiresome to type the whole name, sorry). I figured a month is long enough to test this skincare product before reviewing it. So let’s take a look. Continue reading
I gave myself a late birthday present last weekend, indulging in a few items I have always wanted to try since last year but only restricting to drugstore brands.
First off, Za Cosmetics Perfect Fit Concealer. My Maybelline Age Rewind concealer is nearing its end. I have doubts I will be able to purchase it again since it is not locally available. So the time to step out into the unknown and look for an alternative has begun, a cheaper one mind you. Second, Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection Concealer, which I’ve heard is comparable to some high end brands out there. The 16-hour promise is too tempting to be ignored. Third, Maybelline Lip Polish Color Sensational, a brand new lip gloss-balm hybrid that had me so excited to discover, after wiping the swatches at the back of my hand at the beauty section of SM Department Store in SM Aura, it left stains behind. I had to buy more than one and the free lip pouch was just an added bonus! Last but not the least, Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner. After hearing numerous claims regarding this one, I just picked the travel size for a trial. I’m giving it at least 2 weeks before giving my final thoughts.
Essence had run out of stocks of their All About Matt Loose Powder yet again— it seems I can never snatch one up, and the sales assistant doesn’t have a clue about the availability of the brand’s Stay Matt Lip Creams (maybe those are not yet available here in the Philippines?). But nevermind those, I’m quite content with what I bought.
Have you tried anything from the ones I’ve mentioned above? What did you think of them?
