In Her Element Sunflower Wash-Off Cleansing Oil | Review

I’m always on the lookout for new cleansing oils to try out. I’ve only reviewed a few in the time I took my skincare routines seriously and I’m still finding which ones I want to keep in my vanity forever. When In Her Element sent me their cleansing oil to try out, I was over the moon. Now I get to share with you my review of it.

POWER OF SUNFLOWER

The Sunflower Wash-Off Cleansing Oil (110ml) will melt off even the most stubborn mascara and long-wearing foundation. This is an emulsifying oil cleanser that leaves your skin feeling clean and soft after washing!

The Sunflower Wash-Off Cleansing Oil comes in a plastic bottle containing 110 ml of product. It has simple lock mechanism wherein you only twist the pump right or left to open/close it, respectively. The pump isn’t as smooth with dispensing the product and takes a bit of getting used to. This has a stronger rose scent as compared to their other products I’ve tried. If you’re someone who is bothered with rose-scented skincare, take a smell of this in stores first before you purchase.

The main ingredient is sunflower seed oil which is composed mainly of oleic and linoleic acids. It has been shown in studies to preserve the integrity of stratum corneum, improve skin hydration, and enhance skin barrier repair. Furthermore, it did not cause any irritation to the skin of those with atopic dermatitis. Other ingredients include an essential oil (rose) and salicylic acid.

This can remove basic makeup like foundation, concealer, powders and other non-waterproof makeup. The oil emulsifies well with the addition of water and is easy to wash off. It doesn’t leave any kind of residue behind when rinsed off and doesn’t dry out the skin. Fair warning though, instead of a residue, it leaves the strong scent of rose that lingers for a while before disappearing.

Looking at the photo below, I’m not convinced that it can completely remove waterproof makeup. I did massage this into the skin and over the makeup somewhat vigorously. However, there are still traces of makeup left after it was all rinsed off — a BLK Cosmetics Long-Lasting Liquid Matte Lipstick (3rd product swatch), which my lips found to be too drying, and the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. (How’s that for budge-proof makeup formulas, huh?)

At the moment, there’s only a third of it left. I am carefully reserving this as my first cleanse for when my skin gets sensitive especially around my mouth. I’m considering repurchasing it and keeping a bottle on hand but the rose scent is making me think twice. If you love the scent of roses, then this cleansing oil is an option for you but I sincerely hope that IHE will make one without it.

A 110 ml bottle retails for Php 695. In Her Element products are available in their online store, Beauty Bar shops, and BeautyMNL
