By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water + TECA 1% Barrier Cream | Review

By Wishtrend is one of the first brands that got me very curious about their products when I initially dived into the world of korean skincare. In my opinion, they have some of the most reputable range of skincare because I’ve never really read a negative review about them, all positive in fact. I was very surprised when Kbeauty Cafe, a local online shop here in the Philippines and a local distributor of By Wishtrend gave me the opportunity to review 2 of the brand’s products.

Those 2 products I was sent were the Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water and the TECA 1% Barrier Cream. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about them so I was very much excited to see how they will fare on me.

Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water

This is a gentle exfoliator containing 5% Mandelic Acid less irritating compared to other AHA ingredients. Panthenol, Centella Asiatica Extract and Beta-Glucan supply moisture to soothe skin after peeling. Recommended as a gentle, low-irritant exfoliator.

I received a deluxe size of the Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water. The full-sized bottle has 120 ml of product while the deluxe bottle has 30 ml. I don’t mind the size because I know it can last me a long time. All I need is only a few drops of it on a cotton pad anyway. Plus, this is good way to test out a product first before purchasing the full size bottle or if you need something handy and small for traveling. I will definitely be using this small bottle in my travels.

If you look at the ingredients on the back of the bottle, you can only see a short list but that’s not complete though. You can see the complete list on the Wishtrend website. Aside form the 5% mandelic acid, it also has beta-glucan, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate centella asiatica extract and houttuynia cordata extract.

It’s a clear, unscented liquid with a watery consistency. It didn’t leave any stinging sensation on the skin nor did it cause any redness or peeling. I find it mild enough for daily use but only once a day. Everyday use may not be for everyone so be careful. My skin could just be more resilient to acids because I’ve been using them for years now.

TECA 1% Barrier Cream

This product contains 1% TECA, concentrated Centella Asiatica effective in skin barrier reinforcement and skin protection. Madecassic Acid provides soothing and regeneration. The light and transparent gel cream absorbs into the skin without oiliness for pleasant use day and night.

The TECA 1% Barrier Cream on the other hand, is full-sized. It comes in a teal-colored squeeze tube with 30 g of product in it. This doesn’t carry any scents too and gets absorbed into the skin well enough. I use it twice a day and only on the areas where I usually breakout. This layers well with the other skincare products I’ve applied before it — I apply this after my moisturizer, and does not cause pilling.

Its notable ingredients are the centella asiatica actives asiaticoside, madecassic acid, asiatic acid. It has allantoin which is a skin-soothing ingredient and silicones which I was wary of initially. However, it never gave me any negative reactions and I wonder if the reason was because I always apply this after my moisturizer in my routine.

These two came to my doorstep at a right time because I had just had breakout from another product. Now, the breakout I’m talking about left me with about a dozen of pimples, mostly on the chin, and right cheek. On the photo below, on my right cheek, is where I noticed the more prominent ones. So I took the photo on this site to document how the duo would perform. And as you can see, after 1 week of using them together, the pimples completely healed and didn’t even look like they happened. There weren’t any pigmented marks left either.

Now I’ve been continuously using this for weeks and so far, my skin has remained breakout-free. I mean, I should be having some kind of inflammatory acne this time around because of hormones but I’m not. That’s not to say that I haven’t been getting bumps — I am, mostly some few closed comedones on the left side of my jaw but my forehead has been smooth the whole time I was using this.

The impressions and results as stated above left me very satisfied with these 2 and so I’m giving both of them TWO THUMBS UP. I’m so glad I was able to try them out this way. Honestly I don’t know which one I love more but it’s safe to say that they definitely merit being repurchased in the future. I really recommend this to any one who is acne-prone, most especially someone who has sensitive skin. In the Philippines, you can get them both at Kbeauty Cafe. Have you these from By Wishtrend? Or any of their products?
