Time for my annual beauty favorites guys and 2018 certainly was a year full of new discoveries, many of which are from the skincare category. But believe me, I still have some makeup items I fell in love with.
Let’s begin shall we? This could be a long list. I will link my reviews to everything I’ll mention so if you want to know why I consider these my favorites rather than just take my word for it, you’re welcome to read them.
I’ll start off with some makeup because I was a makeup addict first and foremost. Photo at the top.
First off, the only foundation I approved of is the Revlon Colorstay Makeup and that’s because I was late to the bandwagon (as always). I have heard of it before I even started blogging but that was a time when I really didn’t trust the quality of drugstore brands. Now though it’s a whole new ball game for the beauty community when drugstore brands are leveling up. I know I said I wouldn’t indulge in any blushes but one swatch of the MAC Extra Dimension Blush in Hushed Tone and I knew I had to make it mine. I also enjoyed some Wet N Wild Color Icon Blushes throughout the year. Next, I pleasantly surprised myself that with only a limited number of highlighters. I gave my approval to ABH Amrezy Highlighter, NARS Reve Sale Hghlighting Cheek Palette, Colourette’s Face Gloss, and Maybelline FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter (Molten Rose Gold). To be completely honest though, these are not the only highlighters I bought last year — I just haven’t opened them yet. A lip and cheek tint wormed its way onto my picks, the Colourette ColourTint Intense Blend Lip and Cheek Oil. When it comes to eyeshadow, I finally got my hands on the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Blood Sugar Palette and the ABH Soft Glam Palette. There was only one eyeliner that I trusted last year and that’s the Clio Waterproof Brush Liner.
Now onto the skincare.
For my first cleansers, I pick the Heimish All Clean Balm and Biore Cleansing Oil. My only favorite second cleanser is the Krave Beauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser and that’s because I managed not to open every cleanser I bought impulsively. Two hydrating toners I choose are the Tiam My Signature Vita B5 Toner and Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner. Then there’s a brightening essence I personally consider to be a serum, the TMYS Iconic Brightening Essence. I also fell in love with the Benton’s Cacao Moist and Mild Serum and Purito’s Centella Green Level Buffet Serum — I can’t stop singing them praises. I didn’t use as much face mask as I should even though I should for the sake of decreasing my stash but the ones from Taiwan-based Dr. Morita are such a huge hit for me. Also, the collaboration between Althea and Get It Beauty for the Real Fresh Skin Detoxer wash-off masks was a hit. For personal preference, I rather use sleeping masks and my faves are the Naruko Tea Tree Shine Control & Blemish Clear Night Gelly and the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask. My sunscreen pick is the Biore UV Aqua Watery Rich Essence. Quite a few items were also unexpectedly good, like the Avarelle Acne Cover Patches, the Eyenlip Snail In One Repair Cream and the Heimish Aqua Tone-Up Cream.
I’m adding some products here I haven’t reviewed yet. The Krave Beauty Kale-lalu-yAHA, Purito Centella Green Level All In One Mild Pads, Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV and the Leegeehaam Hope 5 Alpha Control Cream have all become my favorites last year. Expect my reviews of those sometime this month — I promise.
