About 3 weeks ago, I was invited by Project Vanity to the official launch of Dr. Morita face masks in the Philippines. And not only that, a few other people from the AB Community of the Philippines were invited as well. It was mostly an afternoon spent with friends, talking about asian skincare and meeting new people.

All in all, it was one of the highlights of my day despite the gloomy-then-sunny weather in the city. Now let’s get into those face masks.
DR. MORITA IN THE PHILIPPINES
Get your hands on the no. 1 best-selling sheet masks in Taiwan and Hong Kong! Known for making affordable yet quality skin care products, Dr. Morita has been recognized many times over. Aside from rave reviews from the media, it was also selected as the official facial sheet mask in the 2014 Miss Hong Kong pageant. Their best-selling Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask has also recently won the Silver Award from Monde Selection, an independent consumer product evaluating body. Before enjoying the #drmoritamaskbuffet, let’s get to know more about the different #drmoritaph sheet masks now available at Watsons and SM Beauty.
Currently in the Philippine market, Dr. Morita only has 6 variants available, each single mask retailing for Php 74 in SM Beauty sections of the department store and Watson’s. In general, these sheet masks are soaked in a ridiculous amount of essence and by ridiculous, I meant you could probably apply the leftover essence several times over every inch of your body. In short, there’s a lot of it. The masks have some kind of soft plastic backing to them that’s easy to peel off once it’s in place on your face. The essences are not perfumed and that’s how I like them. I can’t comment on how drippy the essences are because I always, always make a mess of the essences of any face mask I come across every time. I’m awkward like that so I’m used to it.
These are the 6 variants I was talking about:
- Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask
- Intense Hydrating Serum Facial Mask
- Triple Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Essence Facial Mask
- Whitening & Moisturizing Essence Facial Mask
- Platinum Colloid & Hematite Extraction Whitening Black Facial Mask
- Platinum Colloid & Black Pearl Extraction Moisturizing & Whitening Black Facial Mask
The fit of these masks are amazing. These have slits on the side to follow the curves of the face without creating too much wrinkle. My eyes weren’t being poked and the holes were properly placed to give it an overall comfortable fit. It adheres to the face so well that there was no chance it would slip down. I usually leave them on for 15 to 20 minutes before peeling them off. The remaining essence from the mask I apply on my neck, upper chest, elbows, knees and legs. What’s left on my face, I gently massage and pat to increase my skin’s absorption of it. When fully absorbed, the skin doesn’t feel tacky or sticky but just supple and hydrated. Aside from that, the whitening variants really do give an immediate glow to the face.
Edit to add: Me using the 6 variants of Dr. Morita’s face masks.
It took me a while to try all of these — I don’t really sheetmask every night, maybe 2 to 4 times a week depending on how tired I am when I get home. After going through each and every one of them, I found myself a few favorites. Don’t get me wrong, I love them all and would undoubtedly purchase all 6 over and over but of course I find myself preferring certain types — three actually (Triple Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Essence, Whitening & Moisturizing Essence, and the Platinum Colloid & Black Pearl Extraction Moisturizing & Whitening Black Facial Masks).
To cap off this review, I give these face masks my TWO THUMBS UP for a great fit, and having a non-sticky hydrating/brightening essence. Have you guys tried these facial masks from Dr. Morita? What are your favorites?
