Sooper Beaute is one local brand that garnered my attention for the second time the moment they repackaged some of their products, namely the So Matte Lipsticks. And I have been well aware of these lipsticks even before the repackaging. At that time, I was hesitant to purchase them because some local beauty bloggers would say that these have a matte and dry formula.
Fast forward to the present. I couldn’t help myself. Despite the beautiful shades, I only picked two to try out, Norma and Tucana.
SO MATTE, SO BEAUTE
A flattering matte lipstick offered in Filipina-friendly shades!
DETAILS: Creamy formula glides on smoothly; highly pigmented color dries to a soft, shine-free finish; long-wearing formula nourishes lips with grapeseed extract, vitamin E, and shea butter
You finally found the MATTE of your Dreams!
Unique lipstick that looks like a lipbalm but colors like a true lipstick.
Pigmented and matte without drying the lips.
The best part of this product is that you are buying 1 product that can serve 3 areas of your face:
- 1st- your Kissable LIPS as a lipstick
- 2nd- your Plump CHEEKS as a blush
- 3rd- your Precious EYELIDS as eyeshadow
These So Matte Lipsticks are now in lip-balm-like tubes with a simple label on the side. Like I said, they had my attention when these were repackaged. Minimalist, black and white fonts will pretty much lure me in. I don’t know how much these contain but the old ones had 4g of product. They smell faintly like bubblegum and they taste like one too.
Norma is a peachy coral on me while Tucana is a lovely mauve pink. Both shades are great for everyday wear and are fully opaque with one pass. My favorite way to wear them is to mix the two together, creating a warm rose shade on me.
Norma + Tucana mixed
First off, these are so creamy. I can’t even begin to consider them as matte lipsticks. I mean, by my understanding of MAC lipstick formulas, I can describe them to have the creaminess of a Liptensity lipstick with the comfort and wearability of a satin formula. Can you imagine something like that? They go on easy on the lips, have a bit of slip and don’t tug at all. The formula is so comfortable and non-drying, my lips are enjoying them. I find that all I need to do before I wear them is exfoliate my lips. I never need any lip balm and by that alone, I am impressed as hell. When left alone — meaning, no drinking or eating — they wear somewhere between 4 to 5 hours.
The only odd thing I’ve noticed so far is somehow, Norma settles on the lip lines every few hours. To remedy that, I’ll press my lips together to somewhat spread the color evenly, and voila, it will look freshly applied! These don’t have the barely-there, lightweight feeling too. I don’t mind as long as they don’t dry my lips out.
As for using them on the cheeks or lids, I find it trickier to work the color on the cheeks than I do on the lids. I will use my Morphe E3 brush to blend them carefully on the cheeks or else they’ll look patchy and uneven. On the lids, all I use is my index finger to pat the color in but I do need to set it with either a powder eyeshadow or setting powder because it creases on its own in just under 2 hours.
I recommend these to anyone who is looking for a satin/matte lipstick that won’t break the bank or dent your savings account. They’re comfortable and has quite the pigment.
I’m so glad I picked these 2 to start off and I’m even more happy that the formula gets along with my dry-as-hell lips so well. My mind is totally blown away with these. Now that I know how I want all the shades now. The best part about them is that they are only Php 199. I hope Sooper Beaute creates more colors because I can see myself wearing these for as long as they make them.
