Ever since its launch, BLK Cosmetics has intrigued me in a similar way that another local brand, Happy Skin Cosmetics, had when it first started. As the brandchild of local actress and all-around entertainer, Anne Curtis, I heard a lot of positive reviews regarding the products. This week, I had begun to try out their cheek palette and now I’m ready to share with you my thoughts.
FLUSHED WITH BLK
Sculpting, made easy. Achieving perfectly defined cheeks is as easy as 1-2-3 with this three-step face palette with expertly coordinated shades to flatter every complexion: a matte contour, an iridescent blush, and a champagne highlighter. It’s also infused with Vitamin E to keep skin young-looking. Start sheer and blend to perfection. You can’t go wrong.
The Contour, Blush & Highlight Palette comes in a black plastic rectangular compact with its own mirror. There’s an abstract design on the front and the logo is simply written across it as well. The compact is definitely slim enough for it to slip easily into a small makeup pouch or to bring with for travels. All the powder products have a total net weight of 17g. Two variants of the palette are available and I have Flushed with me. From what I can remember, the only difference between the 2 palettes is the blush included.
The contour powder is a lightly warm-toned brown that doesn’t pull too orange or ashy and has a nice matte finish. The formula is quite soft and blends okay but not as good as say, a MAC Bronzer, or my absolute favorite drugstore bronzer, the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder. The highlighter looks like a warm gold and the blush is a peachy-pink shade, both of which have visible gold micro-glitters. The blush feels smoother than the highlighter but there’s no chunkiness to the latter. These two blend better on the skin than the bronzer though. All of them have a certain amount of fall out you can expect due to the soft formula. In terms of pigmentation, they can hold their own against other internationally-made products because they pack quite the punch. However, it was only the blush that lasted on me for longer than 7 hours. Both the bronzer and highlighter fades before reaching the 7th hour mark on me and that’s with a primer.
In conclusion, I think you’d be hard pressed to find anything else disagreeable with the palette considering its price of Php 499. I’d recommend this to anyone who’s just starting to get into makeup and is looking for a cheap but workable cheek palette good enough for everyday use. It’s available online here.
