MAC Viva Glam Sia Lipstick | Review

MAC Viva Glam Sia

I wasn’t supposed to get a red lipstick from MAC. I had a low-buy plan at the start of the year and I had only allowed myself to get from MAC a lipstick I can wear everyday (and a highlighter). But then they announced their collaboration with Sia for a Viva Glam lipstick and the plan just went out the window.

You see, I love Sia. I still think her albums, Colour the Small One (2004) and We Are Born (2010) are her best ones. Anyway this lipstick is for a good cause so why not?

Sia’s warm, vivid red VIVA GLAM lipstick in a matte finish. Since 1994, every cent from the selling price of M.A.C Viva Glam Lipstick and Lipglass has gone toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Limited-edition packaging features Sia’s signature.

The Viva Glam Sia is described on the MAC website as a warm vivid red. When I was taking photos of its swatch on my arm, it looks rather cool toned and I thought, “Wow, I may like this better than I thought I would.” So I immediately put it on and found out it’s a bright red that does appear slightly warm instead of my initial impression. The lipstick tube is in black and red with Sia’s name across the lower part.

It’s supposed to have a matte finish but it slides so easy on the lips and doesn’t feel heavy or uncomfortable at all. It’s been years since I’ve worn a matte lipstick from MAC but I don’t remember them to feel a little bit creamy and truthfully, pretty good. It’s by no means hydrating but it doesn’t dry my lips out. Did MAC change their matte formulas? The color is opaque in one swipe and lasts for a good 6 hours. The shade brightens up my face in a way that I enjoy so I don’t regret buying this despite being a bit disappointed at how it looks warm on me rather than cool.

I don’t know how long this will be available in stores or online because it’s a limited edition so you guys better swoop this up as soon as you can before you regret it. It’s at $17.50 in the US and Php 1,050 here in the Philippines.

But speaking of red lipsticks, what was Rebecca Ferguson wearing when she lip synced Never Enough on The Greatest Showman? I’ve been dying to know! Please tell me you guys have an idea. Leave me a message down below so we can discuss it. Here’s the video to refresh your minds.

Until next time!
