2017 in Review Part 3: Skincare Picks of the Year

Best Skincare Picks in 2017

Before 2017 ended, I shared with you all my makeup picks of that year. Now, I’ll be showing you the skincare products that made my skin better. I’m usually picky about my skincare but ever since I have adapted the 10-step Korean routine, I seldom have breakouts now, my skin is less oily by midday and looks less dull. All those I attribute to these products. Have a look.

Before I start on this first item, let me tell you guys that I wholly prefer cleansing oils to remove all the gunk from my face but there are some days when I go home and I’m too tired to double cleanse so I just use the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths to remove my makeup before diving to bed. Or when I’ve really dolled up my face for a special occasion and I need to “triple cleanse” instead, I use these wipes before proceeding to a cleansing oil.

The Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner is both a daytime mist and a toner to my oily skin. I love how my skin absorbs it quickly. I love how it doesn’t carry any scent and I love how it refreshes my tired skin with just a couple of spritzes. It’s not included in my photo because I’ve decanted it to a small spray bottle so I can bring it with me anywhere.

So far I’ve been using the serums and actives of Deciem’s The Ordinary for about 6 to 7 months now and I can’t stop. Most of the time, I find myself incredibly impressed with them that I always want to try a new one. I’m currently running low on the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and the Buffet serum so I have to get a replacement soon. Hit me up with other The Ordinary products please, what have you been loving from them?

From COSRX, I would like to credit the Triple C Lightning Liquid for clearing up my post-acne marks in less than a month (they usually clear up in 4-6 months with my old skincare routine before that I actually thought them to be permanent fixtures on my face) and the Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence for brightening up my face as a whole. Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation is now the least of my problems. Thank you COSRX!

Two of my favorite sunscreens for last year happen to be the Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50+ PA++++ and the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense. One has a matte finish and the other gives of the most amazing glow even with makeup on. And one I can use in the summer and the other for a colder season. By the way, are there any sunscreen recommendations you’d like to give me?

I wonder what new skincare I will discover this year? Hmm, whatever it is, my skin’s ready. I hope I’d be able to try other items from different brands too. Can I ask what are your favorite skincare products right now?

  1. I like Biore sunscreens and I’m getting used to using my TO Niacinamide, too! I am eyeing the Ordinary’s squalane and once I run out of my rosehip oil I will probably end up buying theirs. X
