2017 in Review Part 2: Misses, Pans and Empties

So yesterday, I showed you all my makeup picks of the year. Today, I’ll be sharing more products with you, some didn’t leave a good impression while others are good enough I had finished it off. In summary, these are my misses, pans and empties for 2017.

MISSES:

2017 Product Misses

Okay, so I’ve had more disappointing products last year than for 2016. Some of them I’ve had reaction to like the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation, MAC Lightful C Cushion Compact (haven’t reviewed this yet but in a few days I will have a review up), and the Hylamide Finisher HA Blur. And most just didn’t work for me like the Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick, The Ordinary Colours Coverage Foundation, Happy Skin’s Matte of Your Dreams Oil Control Mattifying Powder and Matte About You Pore & Shine Control Primer, and finally…. the Miniso Rose Essence Toner. The last item is a very much requested item from Miniso but sadly, it never did anything for me. I forgot to include Wet N Wild’s Color Icon Rainbow Highlighter too.

PANS:

2017 Product Pans

As you can see from the photo above, all my panned products are powder foundations. I generally use them to set my foundation, retouch during the day and on some days when my skin looks particularly good (or I’m too lazy), I just pat them on my skin right after my sunblock, no liquid foundation in between. These are the L’Oreal Infallible 16Hr Pro Matte Powder, Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder, and the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder. Among all these 3, I would likely repurchase the Maybelline one if only I can find the shade #120 available. I’m out of luck so far.

EMPTIES:

2017 Product Empties

And these last 5 items are my empties. Most of them are skincare products: Manyo Factory Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence, Endocare Cellpro Intensive Eye Contour (no review here, sorry!), DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, and the Shiseido Pureness Mattifying Moisturizer. On its last few days, I found myself actually sad to see the Shiseido moisturizer go. It had grown on me and I think I might be willing to buy it again. But maybe after I get to try their moisturizer from the WASO line.

The only makeup product I had finished is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz which only lasted me for 3 months. It’s also a favorite item of mine last year and the probability of me getting another again is very high. I might wait for a Sephora sale for that.

So there. How about you readers of mine? Any misses or empties you’re willing to share with me?

XOXO
NIKKI P.

  1. I always enjoy reading these lists! So interesting how some of the products that didn’t work for you are some people’s favourites! Just goes to show how individual everyone is.

  2. I also really enjoy reading these things! Big fan of the brow wiz as well! A huge miss for me this year was the hourglass seamless foundation stick. It really emphasized lines and texture I didn’t even know I had! So sad when that happens…

      • Hello! I currently have combination skin. I’ve noticed people from oily to dry skin even love it, it’s weird! I really wanted to love as I love hourglass in general. Although it didn’t sit well on my drier parts, the formula was the smoothest and most opaque I have ever seen in a stick foundation.
