2017 in Review: Makeup Picks of the Year

Best Makeup Picks in 2017

Hello, hello! Another year has ended and as per tradition, you get to see which products made my list. Unlike last year when I did separate posts for each makeup category, (e.g. highlighters, eyeshadow palettes, etc.), I’ll be just putting all of my picks here in one entry. There’s no order to this so let’s start.

Best Makeup Picks in 2017a

First up are these ColourPop eyeshadow palettes. I currently have 5 in my possession and I recently bought Double Entendre and You Had me at Hello during one of their 20% off sales. In my opinion, they have some of the best eyeshadows out there. I have 4 more of their palettes on my wishlist and I’m planning to getting them next year.

Next is The Face Shop Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion. I’m still a cushion newbie but I am so loving this. I brought this with me on my trip to Seoul and I’m glad I did. What other cushions can you recommend guys? So far, I’v got Iope and Innisfree on my list to try.

From Benefit Cosmetics comes the GALifornia blush. The color makes me think so much of summer and I truly love how it’s such a beautiful shade of coral with the right amount of gold shimmers.

Don’t think that I tamed down from purchasing highlighters this year. I couldn’t help myself and bought the Eclipse Skin Frost, Mary Lou-manizer and some Wet N Wild ones (btw, I still haven’t reviewed Boozy Brunch, sorry). Not included in the photo are the following: J.Cat Beauty Triple Crown Baked Shadows (yes, I use them as highlighters because they’re awesome at that), and the Prismatic Amethyst from Becca Cosmetics.

Drugstore blushes also made their way into my vanity table. The Essence Satin Touch Blushes are too awesome to be ignored and I’m quite proud that a local brand, Pink Sugar has a place in it; I have the shade Miss Independent and I’m looking on getting more of their Sweet Cheeks HD Cheek Color.

Another base I came to love is Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation. Even if it doesn’t have a pump of its own, it’s still a favorite. Also of note is Happy Skin’s Bye Bye Blues Concealer Wand as my favorite concealer this year.

Other items I would like to show you as my favorites are the Wayne Goss Air-Brush, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Clio’s (the last one I haven’t reviewed yet but it’s a damn good eyeliner).

For lip products, I mainly just stuck to these three most of the time: Happy Skin Liquid Matte Lippie in Fierce Kiss, Moisturizing Matte Lippie Honeymoon Glow, and NARS Èphèlide Lip Tint. Yeah, surprise. There aren’t a lot of liquid lipsticks unlike last year. I do have my eyes set on a couple of lipstick tubes though.

Next is the Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit which I think is the most gorgeous highlighter palette that I have in my collection right now.

Speaking of beautiful palettes, I can’t leave the Juvia’s Place Nubian Palette out. If anyone out there is asking which eyeshadow palette a makeup beginner should have first, I would recommend this, hands down! Then, there’s the Hourglass Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette which performs better than the regular Strobe Lighting Powders.

Also from NARS are these limited edition items that should be made permanent, the NARS Bord de Plage Palette and the Hydrating Glow Tint . If NARS happens to read this, I am seriously begging them to consider putting these (also the lip tint I mentioned above) in their permanent line.

So that’s it for me. Your turn guys, what are your makeup picks for 2017?
