Sampling the Goods: Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense

Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense sample

Hey guys! The last time I reviewed a sample was way back in 2014. I actually intended “Sampling the Goods” to be a series about beauty samples with mini reviews and in the end of those reviews, I’ll decide whether I’ll buy a full-size of it or not. Anyway today’s a sample review. After three years!

DRUNK ELEPHANTS KNOW HOW TO GLOW

WHAT IT IS:

A tinted, physical broad spectrum sunscreen that delivers powerful UVA/UVB protection and helps aid in the prevention of free radical and oxidative damage as well as photoaging for a more youthful-looking complexion. Plus, a hint of tint for a gorgeous, glowing finish.

WHAT IT IS FORMULATED TO DO:

This tinted daily sunscreen is loaded with potent antioxidants like astaxanthin, grape juice extract and sunflower shoot extract to help defend from free radicals and environmental aggressors. Infused with raspberry seed and marula oils, Umbra Tinte™ delivers essential moisture and helps minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving your skin looking healthy and youthful. This unique physical formulation is ideal for daily use and won’t leave any white residue or greasiness. With a universally flattering tint, it is ideal for most skin tones and leaves the complexion gorgeous and glowy.

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Umbra Tinte™ is formulated without any chemical sunscreens, which have been known to cause irritation and are not as effective as the natural alternative, zinc oxide. It is difficult to formulate a physical sunscreen that is suitable for all skin tones, but we have done just that.

Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense sample2

Originally, the Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense comes in a 60ml tube for $36. I was given a 5ml sample of it in one of my orders from @shopatcfb. It think I had ordered from Sephora through her.

The product may be labeled as tinted but it doesn’t give any coverage. The tinted part just pertains to the nude color of the cream. It can be worn by any one, be it fair, medium or dark skin types. It’s not going to look light on dark tones or dark on fair skin. The cream, as described by Drunk Elephant is, “… universally flattering.” There’s a mild scent to it that I can’t pinpoint. It’s not the typical strong sunblock smell either. It’s not a problem for my nose but for anyone’s curiosity, the scent fades as soon as it’s spread.

So onto the sunscreen now. It’s not sticky at all but it does make my skin feel a little tacky. Just a little though. And I don’t know if my eyes are deceiving me but it always puts a bit of glow in everything I wear. Honest to goodness, from cushion foundations, matte foundations and even just plain powder foundations. And it’s not just any glow. When I wear it, I feel as if my skin is 10 times healthier and so beautifully radiant.

I would highly recommend this for mature and dry skin types who are searching for that youthful glow. It’s within reach ladies! Granted, this sunscreen might not be the best choice for oily skinned people like me the whole year round — because hello summer (I know I’ll need something more matte when the humidity and heat rolls in), but when the weather gets colder, I’m fine with using this instead.

So yes, this Umbra Tinte gets TWO THUMBS UP from me! I will be getting a full-size of this probably next year or when I finish more of my sunscreens/sunblocks that are on hand. For more information about the product, go here.

XOXO
