Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation | Review

Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation

When it comes to drugstore brands, Wet N Wild ranks pretty high up my list. I like their cheek products very much and I’ve become aware of how the Photo Focus line has garnered a lot of praises and attention from the beauty community. Continue reading to find out how it did on me.

The Photo Focus Foundation comes in 20 shades and I was matched to Shell Ivory thru their Shade Finder and I think it’s the exact match for me. It has a chemical-like smell that disappears after a while. my nose wasn’t really bothered by it. In fact I only noticed it when I sniffed the product straight from the bottle and not when I was applying it.

It comes in a glass bottle with a spatula (for scooping out the product?) which I find a bit odd but I feel it’s more hygienic as compared to the Maybelline Fit Me foundation. A pump would have made a whole lot of difference but the price would also increase for that.

It has a thin and lightweight formula that’s not too runny to be considered watery. The coverage is light to buildable medium. I just apply a little more concealer to hide my dark under eyes and acne marks. I prefer using a dense buffing brush to blend it in the skin because it gives more coverage that way. It leaves a satin-to-matte finish once blended, leaving my skin looking natural. It provided some coverage to my pores and evened out my skin tone completely. It also didn’t make me shiny for the first 5 hours of wearing it.

However, my main issue with it is the silicones. I was swayed by the hype surrounding the product that I totally forgot to check the whole ingredients list. Plus, the bottle’s label doesn’t include one. Well, it broke me out. I didn’t claim it right away as the source of the break out by the way. I gave it time and thought maybe, there was another reason. So I stopped using it for a couple of days and treated the new zits. After, I went back to it and again, I had more break outs. From that point on, I knew it wasn’t meant to be.

If it didn’t break me out, I would have given it my approval but it did and I’m quite disappointed that I can’t use such a wonderful performing product. That said, I can still recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cheap foundation and has a combination/oily skin. Just make sure you’re not sensitive to silicones because if you’re like me then please think carefully before getting this.

It retails for $5.99 in the US and I know there are some online sellers of it here in the Philippines. You may search Instagram with #wetnwildph if you want.

Does anyone else love this product? I envy the ones who haven’t reacted to this. Tell me your thoughts people!

  1. How disappointing that this broke you out! I’ve heard such raves for this. I did at one point have a bottle in my hand at the store but put it back because I need to use up more of my opened foundations first. 😳
