The aloe vera gel is one of the things I got influenced into buying because it’s such an in demand product right now in the Philippines. I don’t know when the hype began but I am willing to give it a go since it seems to be multi-purpose.
ALOE VERA GEL TO THE RESCUE
Formulated with 99% Aloe Vera Leaf Extract from Jeju island to soothe and moisturize the skin! This gel can be used for various purposes, including moisturizing, soothing, facial pack, and after-sun care. As Aloe Vera Leaf Extract is absored into the skin without leaving any sticky residue behind, it soothes and moisturizes at the same time. Formulated without five additives: parabens, benzophenone, animal-derived ingredients, mineral oil, artifical colouring.
The Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Gel is contained in a green tub with 300ml/ 10.14 fl.oz. of product and it is such a huge tub. The gel itself is clear and smells so good, like aloe vera of course, but not too pungent to irritate sensitive noses, at least in my opinion (my grandmother has one so we can’t really use perfumes or anything with a strong scent). Upon opening, a clear lid sits on top to ensure the gel doesn’t spill.
I first used this when summer was dwindling down to its last few weeks. Having an oily skin means I become shiny early in the day, more so when the heat and humidity gets crazy, and I’ve learned that gel-type products are better absorbed in this kind of weather. And this aloe vera gel does exactly that. It’s a non-sticky type of gel that is absorbed faster than my current Shiseido moisturizer. It feels light and doesn’t leave any greasy feeling behind. I also use it to soothe my skin after I’ve done a peel on myself.
Now that the weather has turned colder and wet, the dry skin on my legs are acting up. They’re prone to itchy episodes and when that happens, sometimes I couldn’t help myself. I applied this gel several times to see if they can help with my xerotic skin but tough luck, it didn’t help any. I need something thicker and more emollient to do the job.
In the end, I know I’ll get more use out of this as a lightweight moisturizer for my face throughout the year but not for the rest of my body. I haven’t tried it yet as an after-sun care (what does that even mean?) or as a facial pack so don’t ask me about that. Hehe.
I got two tubs when The Face Shop had a buy 1, get 1 promo for Php 195 only. Don’t worry, they seem to be always doing some kind of promotion or sale every month, if not every week. What’s your opinion with this Korean soothing gels? Any other variant you’d like to share?
