Hi you guys! Lately I’ve been into finding the next best brow product suitable for me. For such a long time, I’ve been using the Shu Uemura Hard Formula. But Shu has decided to close shop here in the Philippines which led me to looking for a good alternative to their pencil. Since Benefit has recently expanded their brow range, I might as well take notice.
GOOF PROOFING THE BROWS

- 94% said it gives beautiful brows on the first try
The Goof Proof Brow Pencil comes in 6 shades and I was matched to No. 4, which is the darker of the two medium shades. It’s warmer than I would have liked and some of my friends seem to think so too. The packaging is done in silver with a spoolie on the other side and each side ending with a geometric and clubbed cap.
The pencil is not as firm as I had expected and during the first few times of application, I keep noticing how the product would catch on my brow hairs leaving behind bits of chunky brown particularly on the arch and tail of my brows. So while I tried to figure the pencil out, in terms of application, my brows would look patchy most days. But it does fill out the gaps in my brows very quickly.
I will say that the pencil lands a little creamy, if not mildly soft. I let it settle for a couple of minutes before going back in to correct areas that need to be redefined. This is so that I won’t over-apply. The color stays on my brows for at least 7 hours before fading. It does so more on the arch because I am oilier there.
It took me a while, a couple of weeks actually, to find out how I can make it work for me. Also I did realize early on that while I have a light hand in doing the rest of my makeup, when it comes to doing my brows, they’re not so light. Now though, I have to tilt this pencil on its side and not use the whole wide tip but rather only the angle at the tip.
My brows are not yet done with Benefit on their products. The shade I bought and the application are only minor setbacks and I will continue to use this pencil up until it’s finished. After this, I plan to get the Precisely, My Brow Pencil. I have a feeling, that one might be more up my alley.
The Goof Proof Brow Pencil retails for Php 1,400 at all Benefit counters in the Philippines.
