Like the Matte About You Primer, the Matte Of Your Dreams Oil Control Mattifying Powder has a blue packaging with mermaid-like scales on the cover. The compact holds 8 g of product and has a separate compartment underneath the powder to house the powder puff. I used the puff several times to pat the down the powder after I’ve finished applying my foundation and it does the job quite well.

The setting powder has finely-milled particles that gives the face an over all soft and matte finish. There’s no discernible scent of any kind. I find it to be a bit stiff on the pan but not dry or chalky. I had hoped it would also have a smooth texture so it can be easily blended but it wasn’t meant to be.

A word of caution though, you have to blend this powder out on your skin carefully and thoroughly or else a white cast will be visible. It was the first thing I noticed on the first day I wore this. So did my other colleagues. I use a dense buffing brush to make sure it doesn’t happen.

It’s great for touch-ups in the middle of the day when my face gets too oily or just a little bit shiny on my T-zone and the compact is sturdy enough to be slipped inside my makeup kit. On a typical day, I get about 2 to 3 hours of shine-free skin before I need to whip it out for a retouch.

At the end of the day, it works better when used in conjunction with the Matte About You Primer as I’ve observed that my makeup last longer when I use those two together.
