I’ve never owned any other Makeup Geek product before this palette so I don’t know what to expect. There seems to be a lot of positive feedbacks around the online beauty community along with a few not so good ones mainly on the individual eyeshadows. I have high hopes though so read on more to find out.

Makeup Geek has partnered with popular beauty vlogger MannyMUA to bring you a limited-edition, 9-pan custom palette that includes three of Manny’s favorite existing Makeup Geek Eyeshadows and six brand-new, exclusive shades. This thoughtfully curated collection contains everyday and ultra-bold shades in matte, shimmery, and foiled finishes—a selection that’s true to Manny’s personality and preference for beautiful, warm tones.
“This palette can be worn by anyone and everyone regardless of age or race—I wanted to make sure of that! I worked so hard on this palette and I couldn’t be happier with the results!” – MannyMUA
The MannyMUA x Makeup Geek palette has 9 eyeshadows in a range of mattes, shimmery frosts and foiled finishes that can be used either day or night. The cardboard packaging is sturdy and quite thick. Each eyeshadow weighs 1.8 g/ 0.064 0z, the same as their singular pans.
Artemis is a muted champagne yellow with a shimmery finish. Beaches & Cream is a soft peachy beige with a matte finish. Luna is a medium rose gold with a foiled finish. Cosmopolitan is a gold-flecked medium rose with a shimmery finish. Sora is a medium earthy terracotta with a matte finish. Frappe is a medium maple brown with a matte finish. Insomnia is a warm red brown with blue reflects and a foiled finish. Mars is a deep cherry red with a matte finish. Aphrodite is a deep plum brown with a matte finish.
Three of them are permanent, namely, Beaches & Cream, Cosmopolitan and Frappe, while the rest are only exclusive to the palette. To be honest, majority of the eyeshadows didn’t really impress me all that much. Some of the textures were somewhat dry and patchy to apply and I noticed there was powder kicked off in a minimum amount. Not to say that they are representative of the whole Makeup Geek eyeshadow line but like I said before, I don’t have any other MUG eyeshadow to compare them with. The best performers in this palette are definitely the foiled eyeshadows which are Luna and Insomnia. Their pigmentation is also better compared to the others while the powders were softer, creamier and had a more even texture on application. On average, the eyeshadows lasted from 6 to 7 hours on me without the use of a primer before there was noticeable creasing with the foiled eyeshadows lasting longer than usual.
Despite all that, I do love the color combination of the palette. It’s the reason why I wanted it in the first place. The neutrals are the type I wear everyday and the pop of red just makes it more alluring. This palette retails for $45 in Makeup Geek which would make an eyeshadow cost $6 each. Given that the individual foiled eyeshadows are $10 a piece, having two of those included in the palette is kind of a deal.
What did you think of this palette? What other MUG eyeshadows would you recommend?
