I thought my very first NARS Audacious Lipstick would be Vera (as I’ve ranted numerous times already since the line launched) or most probably, a coral one. I never thought a nude shade would creep itself into my thoughts and let me forget about the rest of the shades on my wishlist.

The Promise:
Dramatic Depth. Unstoppable Character.
Modern lipstick so shamelessly seductive in touch and texture the sensation is audacious. Unadulterated luxury glides on like satin across skin with single-stroke coverage. A spectrum of 40 shades for unstoppable impact.
- One-stroke, full-coverage creamy wear
- Luxurious texture and enriched with ingredients to smooth and nourish lips
- Long-lasting
The Review:
For a brief packaging description, these Audacious lipsticks are sturdier in appearance as compared to the NARS regular lipsticks. Heftier too in terms of weight. The cover has a magnetic closure that ensures the tube won’t open by itself and the packaging is a matte black. Simple but elegant.
Anita is described as an antique rose. It would look more like a muted, rose with some hint of mauve on my lips and pulling a little cool-toned. I know it doesn’t look like that on the swatches below but trust me it really does. I’m glad that it doesn’t look as nude as I thought it would be compared to swatches from Temptalia.
I was told by the sales assistant in the NARS’ booth at Rustan’s that it’s one of their bestsellers.
And I can completely see why. It was love at first swatch.
The lipstick has a satin finish but is creamy, easy and smooth to apply. One swipe and it delivers a very opaque pigmentation. No need for layers for it look like the one below. The formula is lightly moisturising and doesn’t dry out my lips. Despite the creamy nature, it lasts a total of 5 hours on me. Just in time too since I usually have the time to reapply my lip color after my lunch break. For a nude color, that’s an impressive wear time. I haven’t encountered a shade that lasted that long.
I’m so in love with the formula, I can’t believe it has taken me so long to buy my first tube. I can’t find any displeasing qualities to it. For that, I give Anita a TWO THUMBS UP!
As I am typing this, I’m mentally adding more shades to my wishlist. This maybe the start of a new lipstick addiction. I would like to buy more nudes but I feel that I should pick another shade from a different color family. What do you think? Perhaps a coral one?
By the way, I bought this at the Rustan’s Department Store in Alabang Town Center for Php 1,650.

I own none but I’ve got Anita or Vanessa on my wish list! The 2 shades are so similar based on online swatches, I can’t tell which I’d prefer. By any chance did you look at Vanessa when you were deciding on Anita? It suits you really well, by the way!

Thank you! I didn’t get to swatch Vanessa at that time but I have a feeling it would look more pink on me. I think you just gave me a reason to go back and swatch more of the lipsticks. LOL! 🙂
